Lilypie Second Birthday tickers Lilypie

Monday, February 28, 2011

Today is the last day of February and the 59th day of 2011. For the past 59 days, I have tried to force myself to post some Christmas pictures but it clearly hasn't happened. I figure this is the very last day of the year that I can discuss anything about Christmas 2010 since it is still February. When tomorrow comes and we officially say "March," thoughts of Christmas are officially gone. So for anyone who cares, and really that's just me so that I have some kind of "journal like" memories of my kids' childhood, here are some Christmas memories.

Lunch with Santa at Saint Patrick's
Since Lunch with Santa conflicted with a Bengals' home game, my mom joined me and the girls at St. Pat's for pizza, ice cream, crafts and a Santa shop. We had a great time and the girls surprisingly loved seeing Santa.

Southern Lights at Kentucky Horse Park
A Blazejewski family tradition. This was Megan's first visit! Everybody enjoyed the lights, the trains and the petting zoo. Anna especially loved getting her special treats!

A New Downtown Tradition
Matt and I created our own family tradition this year. We began with a visit to the 65th annual train display at the Duke Energy building. We headed over to Fountain Square to ride on a horse carriage and finished with dinner at Chipotle and a walk around the Square. The girls loved it and Anna convinced us that next year we can try ice skating with her on Fountain Square after dinner. That should be very entertaining!

Decorating Our Christmas Tree

Arts and Crafts Nights
Many days and nights during this snow covered winter were spent doing arts and crafts. Whether we made ornaments, paintings or new play doh creations, we always had fun. (The play doh picture is a great capture of the girls' typical goofiness when they start trying to make each other laugh.)

What is Christmas without homemade cookies?
Anna and Megan absolutely loved this part of the holidays. Here we are baking good ole' chocolate chip cookies and Jesus' birthday cake.

Cute Kids Singing Christmas Carols
Can you really celebrate Christmas without this sweet event? Anna takes a Bible school class for 3 and 4 year olds during Mass every Sunday. She really does learn lessons and it's not just a babysitting room (although, that helps Matt and me out!) Her class came up at the end of Mass on the Sunday before Christmas. They sang Away in a Manger, O Little Town of Bethlehem and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Needless to say, they were adorable and brought tears to my eyes. Anna did a great job despite being the only child to refuse to wear the angel halo. These pictures are cute, but the video is priceless!
